Time blocking with estimates

Give tasks an estimate and a time, and the Day and Week calendars show whether your plan actually fits.

A to-do list tells you what to do; a calendar tells you when. Time blocking joins the two: you give each important task a slot, and you see at once whether the day is realistic.

Estimate first

Add an estimate to the tasks that take real time. With quick add you type it at the end: Draft the proposal tomorrow 9am 90m. Rough is fine: 15, 30, 60 or 90 minutes covers most things.

Then give it a time

A task with a due time and an estimate becomes a block on the Day and Week calendars, as long as its estimate. The calendar shows planned hours per day, so an overloaded Wednesday is obvious before it happens.

Plan the week, adjust the day

On Sunday or Monday morning, open the Week calendar and place your three or four most important tasks. Each morning, open the Day view and adjust: move what no longer fits, and leave gaps for the unexpected. Untimed tasks stay in Today as a list next to your blocks.

Templates that use it

The Study plan puts fixed study blocks on repeat, and the Product launch carries estimates on every task so a team can check the plan fits.
