Horizons

You can look at your work from three heights. Each answers a different question, and each has its rhythm.

On this page
Horizon Question In OpenTodo Looked at in
Next step What do I do now? a task, the project's next action Next, the Daily check
Project What am I trying to finish? a project, its note holds the outcome the weekly review's project walk
Area What do I keep up? a top-level project that holds sub-projects the Monthly look

Write the outcome#

Open a project's note (Shift+P) and write in one sentence what done looks like: "The car fits in the garage". The weekly review shows it on the project's card, so you can tell whether the next step still leads there.

Areas are projects that hold projects#

Make "Home", "Work" or "Health" a project and nest the projects that belong to it (Projects and sub-projects). An area itself rarely has tasks; it is finished never, but its projects are. The Monthly look lists each area with how many of its projects need attention.
