Review

Look over the whole system on a rhythm, so you can trust it. Trust is what lets you stop holding things in your head: you know that everything is caught, placed and will come back when it matters.

Three rhythms#

  • Daily check (5 minutes, g Shift+R): the Inbox, what is overdue, today's focus.
  • Weekly review (30 minutes, g r): the whole system, in three phases.
  • Monthly look (20 minutes): your areas, old Someday items and the four-week trend.

Details are in Rhythms and in Weekly review.

The weekly review#

  1. Get clear: empty the Inbox, then a Mind sweep to catch what is still on your mind.
  2. Get current: what you completed and what is overdue, what is Waiting, every project one at a time, and the week ahead.
  3. Get creative: skim Someday and promote what you now want to do.

The project walk is the heart of it: one card per project, with its outcome, its next action and whether it has stalled. Press r when it looks right, q to add a next step.

Keep the rhythm#

The sidebar's Review entry shows Due when a review is late. In Open Loops first, the app offers the Daily check once a day. A skipped review is not a failure: the next one simply takes a little longer.
