Review intervals and maintenance

On this page
With many projects, the weekly review gets long, and a project you only need to look at once a season costs as much attention as an active one. Two things keep it short: an interval per project, and Maintenance for projects you are deliberately keeping on low burn.
How often a project comes up#
Each project comes up in the walk once a week unless you choose otherwise. Choose Review every… in the project's menu, or press e on its card in the walk:
| Choice | The project is due again |
|---|---|
| Every week (the default) | 7 days after you last reviewed it |
| Every 2 weeks | 14 days after |
| Every month | on the same day a month later, or the month's last day when it is shorter (reviewed on 31 January, due on 28 February) |
| Every quarter | on the same day three months later |
| Paused | never; it only comes up when you choose Review them too |
A project you never reviewed is always due. Days are your days: with a day that starts later than midnight, a review finished at 01:00 counts for the day before.
The choice is yours, like your mark of when you last reviewed it: in a shared project, each member keeps their own rhythm, and yours never reaches the others. It syncs to your own devices and works offline. Under Simple lists, Review every… shows in the project menu only once you chose something other than every week; the walk card always offers it.
Maintenance#
Some projects are deliberately on low burn for a while: the garden in winter, the car between services. Put in maintenance in the project's menu, in its row menu on the Projects page, or m on its card in the walk, says so for everyone who shares it. While a project is in maintenance:
- its health reads Maintenance instead of Overdue, Quiet or On track. Late (a passed deadline) still shows, because a deadline is usually a promise to someone else;
- it is never marked stalled or without a next action: not in the walk, not on the Loop home and not in the weekly digest;
- its tasks are listed, counted, dated and reminded as before, and its progress still shows;
- the project page reads In maintenance beside its name.
End maintenance in the same places turns it back. Each change offers Undo. In a shared project, the owner and admins can change it, like the project's colour. Under Simple lists the menu item shows only on a project that is in maintenance.
