Add and colour on the calendar

The Week calendar with timed tasks as coloured blocks and an Unscheduled lane under each day.

On this page

Two ways to plan faster in Day, Week, Month and Plan: add a task right where it belongs, and colour tasks by what matters to you.

Add a task at a time#

Double-click an empty quarter hour of Day or Week to add a task due then: type its name (and anything quick add understands) and press Enter. It appears as a block at once, even offline. A double-click in a day's Unscheduled lane adds one with the date only, and in the Month a double-click on an empty part of a day adds one due that day. Under a mouse, the quarter hour (or the Month day) under the pointer is lightly highlighted.

Right-click an empty place instead, or press and hold it on a touch screen, for a small menu: Add task here…, and in Day and Week New frame here… (a frame on that weekday, from that time) and New slot here… (a 30-minute slot). Holding a task block keeps its usual meaning, and a double-click on a task still opens it.

From the keyboard, q adds a task on the focused day: in Day and Week the selected task's day, else today. A time you type, like at 4pm, sets the time on that day.

Colour by project, label or priority#

Blocks and rows take their project's colour. To see something else at a glance, open the calendar's More actions menu and choose Colour by: Project, Label or Priority. The choice applies to Day, Week, Month and Plan, and this device remembers it.

  • Label: a task takes the colour of its first label in your label order (the order of the Labels page) that isn't the default grey. Tasks without a coloured label are grey.
  • Priority: priority 1, 2 and 3 take the red, orange and blue of the priority rings; priority 4 is grey.

Calendar events and frames keep their own look.

Boards have the same choice, shown as a coloured edge on the left of each card: in the project menu (Colour by…) of a project's board, or in Display options of a board view. It is one choice for every board on this device; Project, the default, leaves the cards as they are. Neither choice is synced.
